Caci Traditional Dance Tour is a special cultural journey from Labuan Bajo to experience one of the most iconic traditions of the Manggarai people of Flores.
More than simply watching a traditional performance, this experience gives you the opportunity to enter a Manggarai village, take part in a traditional welcoming ceremony, visit the traditional house, and witness Caci together with other traditional dances and cultural rituals.

Your Caci cultural experience begins with a private pickup from your hotel in Labuan Bajo.
After meeting your guide and driver, we drive towards the Manggarai highlands. The journey takes approximately 40–60 minutes depending on the selected village and road conditions.
Along the way, you will pass rural landscapes, plantations, traditional settlements, and countryside scenery. Your guide will explain more about daily life in Flores and the Manggarai people as we travel towards the village.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by members of the local community.
The welcome is an important part of the experience because it introduces visitors to the village before entering the main cultural area.
Depending on the village program, the welcoming process may include traditional greetings, music, dancing, and a short cultural ritual.
After the welcome ceremony, you will enter the traditional house or Mbaru Gendang, where your guide or local representative will explain the role of the traditional house and its importance to Manggarai community life.
After the welcoming ceremony, we continue to the village performance area to watch the main cultural attraction — Caci Traditional Dance.
Caci is a traditional Manggarai performance in which two men take turns as attacker and defender. One uses a traditional whip while the other carries a shield and protective headgear.
The performance is accompanied by traditional music, songs, movement, and enthusiastic support from the surrounding community.
Your guide will explain the meaning behind the performance, the traditional equipment used by the dancers, and the cultural values represented by Caci.
Depending on the local community program, you may also have the opportunity to watch several other traditional performances.
These may include:
Rangkuk Alu – a traditional bamboo dance involving rhythm, movement, and coordination.
Ako Mawo – a traditional Manggarai cultural dance performed as part of the local celebration.
Sanda – traditional Manggarai singing and dancing performed together by members of the community.
Mbata – traditional Manggarai singing that forms part of the cultural expression of the community.
The exact program may vary depending on the village and the local performance schedule.
After the performances, you will have time to interact with local people, take photographs, and learn more about Manggarai culture.
This is also a good opportunity to ask your guide about traditional houses, local clothing, music, dances, agriculture, and everyday life in the village.
After completing the cultural experience, we leave the village and drive back to Labuan Bajo.
You will be dropped off at your hotel, airport, or another agreed location in Labuan Bajo.
End of the Caci Traditional Dance Tour.
The Caci Dance is not simply a performance created for visitors. It is part of the cultural identity of the Manggarai people and has traditionally been associated with important community occasions and ceremonies.
For travelers, the experience offers a chance to see this tradition in a community setting while also learning about the people, customs, music, clothing, and traditional houses of Manggarai.
Rather than spending another day only on the islands, this tour allows you to discover the cultural side of Flores and meet the local community behind the destinationTourMa

When visiting a traditional village, please dress respectfully and follow the instructions of your guide and local community.
Caci is a traditional cultural activity, and the performance schedule can depend on the local community.
For this reason, Caci performances should be arranged in advance rather than assuming that a performance will be available every day.
The exact sequence of ceremonies and additional traditional dances may also vary according to the village and the community program.
We recommend booking in advance so our team can coordinate the visit with the local community.

The journey to Melo Village generally takes around 40–45 minutes by car, although travel time can vary depending on traffic, weather, and stops along the way.

Rafael and Komodo Padar Tour Team
Amazing out of this world trip. - When we booked this tour we didn't know what to expect. Komodotop team of Rafael and Ovan make this a memorable and mind blowing vacation. There were 8 of us... read more and Komodotop especially Ovan make us like family. We were amaze with the crystal clear waters of Kanawa Island, Manjerite Island, Kelor Island and the unbelievable shades of pink of Pink Beach. The trekking up Padar Island rewards us with the most beautiful and postcard view of the island and the beaches. Trip to Komodo and Rinca Island for the Komodo Dragon was fascinating and it reminds of the modern day dinosour. Living on the Boat was a new experience and well taken care of Ovan and the crew. Overall it was a great and wonderful trip and Komodotop made it even more amazing. If ever you want to go to Flores, look up for Rafael of Komodotop as they will make your stay memorable. Highly recommended.

Amazing Experience by Far - We had the best experience with Komodo Top. The owner, Rafael is very kind and knows a lot about the place. We met him on our first day. The second... read more until last day we were with another guide, Aprih. He's also very nice, patient, and really talkative. We've got so much information about the places we are going to visit that time. The boat crew also very nice and professional and the chef makes the BEST FOOD!!!!
We snorkled from one point to the other, went to see manta rays, pink beach, Taka Makassar (which is I personally think the best beach), Kalong (bats) at night, and of course trekking to see Komodo Dragon.
We had soooooo much fun, and definitely recommend Rafael and his team if you're looking to explore Labour Bajo. Thank you so much Rafael, and keep up the good work!
A Great adventure - We have a great adventure. The snorkling and hiking was amazing.Beautiful beaches. Our journey was 3days/ 2 nights on a boat. The boat was confort. Meals are delicious. And the... read more crew was kind and patience, especialy our guide Aprih. I Recomend Komodotop tours.
Perjalanan seru dari atas atap. - Just got back from trip to labuan bajo with mr. Rafael. It was very fun, entertaining and mind blowing journey. We took LOB with Sinar Pagi, the ship is very... read more excelent, the crew is very helpful and accomodating. The room is very nice, i did not expect it would be that good..but it is beyond excellent. Food is great thanks to the chef. Mr Rafael accompany us along the way with very entertaining persona and great attitude. I personally think it is the best trip i ever join for now. Tempat yang indah dengan orang-orang yang ramah dan pemandu wisata yang interaktif. - When we booked the tour, we only knew that we have 6.5 days to spend in Flores and we want to see the Komodo Dragon and Mt. Kelimutu while we... read more are there.
We knew very little about Flores and was trusting Rafael from KomodoTop to arrange our itinerary. Rafael was very accommodating with our request and able to answer any questions we had.
When we arrived in Flores, Rafael wasn't available for us but we had other guide named Silverster to be our private guide. With his average English, we can still hold a good conversation. He was really professional, polite, friendly and have a good skill on taking good photos (that was a plus for us).
Our tour consists 2 days at sea with private boat and 4 days inland with private driver.
We were impressed with the food provided on the boat, it was the best food we've eaten in Flores, the captain of the boat was really experienced as well, so you can feel safe spending 2 days at sea.
As for our driver, he did a really good job for his safe driving skills. The road in the mountain is really crazy, a lot of curve turns and small roads of course, they looks like "snakes", so you need to have a good driving skill to survive driving there.
Overall Flores was wonderful. The air still clear from pollution and you've met the most friendliest people there. We've got invited twice for coffee and tea from the local people while we were visiting their village.
The view of the mountain is equally beautiful with the view from the sea. The ocean still clean, we did a lot of snorkelling and saw lots of tropical fishes and colourful corals, we even swim with a turtle and manta ray.
We would like to go back again at some point as we didn't get the chance to see Padar Island and Wae Rebo Village while we were there.
